What causes you to feel fear?

If you stop and think about this for a few minutes and you’re honest with yourself, the answers to this thought provoking question may actually surprise you.

People feel fear for different reasons, whether it’s the fear of flying, public speaking or doubts about whether or not you have what it takes to achieve a big goal like starting a business or taking an existing business to new levels.

There are some that say fear isn’t real #teamnofear has become quite popular these days.

You’ll hear stuff like fear is just an illusion False-Evidence-Appearing-Real,  and for a while a part of me really wanted to  buy into this notion of being able to become FEARLESS, but after eight years as an entrepreneur and constantly pushing myself to new heights I realize that the notion of not experiencing fear at all makes absolutely no sense.

Fear Is Very REAL and we all experience it at some point or the other.  The truth is, everyone feels fear and more often than most would care to admit.

Feeling fear is completely normal, it’s an emotion, but allowing fear to prevent you from doing the things you truly want to do, so you can live the life you deserve … now that’s when fear becomes an issue.

People who are living above average lives feel fear just like everyone else, but they don’t allow the fear to cripple or stop them from doing what they need to do.  Successful people have mastered the art of operating outside of their comfort zone.

If you think about what fear is and why we experience it, it’s really just an extreme case of being uncomfortable for whatever the reasons are.  Knowing this can help you logically work through and manage the feelings and anxiety that comes along with fear.

No matter what it is that scares you, you can learn how to acknowledge, manage, and move forward so that nothing can hold you back in life.  Here are a few things that can help:

Acknowledge Your Feelings

You are feeling the way you do for a reason, trying to dismiss the way you feel or convince yourself that you are not feeling the way you do is not the answer.  Avoidance of fear only causes more distress and anxiety.

Identify What’s Causing You To Feel The Way You Do 

Think about what’s causing you to feel fear, take note of how much it’s affecting your day-to-day life or the decisions you make.  Be honest with yourself, are your fears keeping you from moving forward with what you want to achieve in your life and/or business

Realize That It’s Ok To Feel Fear 

You are feeling fear for a reason, the trick is to keep moving and not let the fear stop you.

Take me for example, I am deathly afraid to fly.  Being in an airplane thousands of feet up in the air is an extremely uncomfortable experience for me, but I fly anyway.  Do I enjoy it? No … Never, but I understand that not working through this fear each and every time it presents itself will impact my life and business in a major way so as Joyce Meyers says I feel the fear and do it anyway.  

Know this, you have the power to work through whatever it is you’re afraid of,  taking action towards doing the very thing that scares you is the best way to get through the fear each time it presents itself.  It may not completely eliminate it altogether but you’ll get through it and be a few steps closer to that which you desire.

Just remember this, EVERYONE has fears and anxieties, some of it will make sense and some never will, extend yourself some compassion, what matters most is knowing and believing that you have the power to work through FEAR.

Don’t allow fear to hold you back.  Everything that you want in life, lives outside your comfort zone.  Don’t let fear be the reason you don’t live the life you deserve.
